CLAUDE THIERS® FOLDING KNIVES

How to choose your Thiers folding knife?

Choosing your Claude THIERS® folding knife depends primarily on your intended use and aesthetic preferences. Models with Wave handles, recognizable by their wavy profile, offer an ergonomic grip optimized for intensive daily use. Versions with stainless steel or brass bolsters embody the traditional elegance of French cutlery.

The Golfer model, equipped with an integrated pitch repair tool, is specifically designed for golfers. The compressed carbon versions, ultra-light at only 80 grams, impress with their modern look and slim 11 mm profile. The choice of material also reflects your personal taste: olive, walnut, thuya, or juniper for their characteristic aroma, or carbon for its technical performance.

The Claude THIERS® folding knife collection :
Wave design models
Handcrafted folding knives with Wave handles are distinguished by their characteristic wavy profile, which optimizes grip. These friction knives have a 9 cm blade and are 22 cm long when open. The 2 cm wide and 3 mm thick blade ensures robustness and cutting efficiency. The closed knife's thickness varies from 11 to 15 mm depending on the model, allowing for discreet carry in a pocket.

Available with handles in olive, walnut, or thuya wood, some versions also feature a Damascus steel-inspired pattern engraved on the blade, adding a striking aesthetic dimension. Each knife comes in a gift box with a certificate of origin.

Bolsters Models
Models equipped with one or two bolsters represent the traditional style of French cutlery. The brushed stainless steel or brass bolsters protect the ends of the handle and enhance the knife's aesthetics. The single-bolster configuration offers a cleaner profile, while the double-bolster versions provide complete visual balance. These knives are available in juniper (cade), thuya, olive, or cade burl handles. Juniper wood releases its sweet, peppery scent, creating a unique sensory experience with every use.

Compressed Carbon Models
The compressed carbon fiber versions embody modern technology. Extremely flat at only 11 mm thick and incredibly lightweight at 80 grams, these pocket knives slip easily into any pocket. Some models feature gold or copper inlays that create a visual effect reminiscent of incandescent volcanic material. This composite material offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and has the added benefit of being 100% recyclable.

The Golfer Model
The Golfer is a specialized creation for golf enthusiasts. Featuring a carbon fiber handle, this folding knife incorporates a pitch mark repair tool for gently replacing the turf on the course. With a 7.5 cm blade made of 12C27 stainless steel and a total folded length of 10.5 cm, it is easily carried in its leather sheath that attaches to a belt. The blade and the knife lifter are forged from the same stainless steel to guarantee durability and performance.

Guaranteed Technical Performance
High-Quality Stainless Steels
The blades are forged from high-quality X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, selected for its exceptional performance in terms of corrosion resistance and edge retention. The 12C27 steel, used notably for the Golfer, offers comparable characteristics with excellent durability.

Each blade undergoes a hardening treatment that brings its hardness to 56/57 HRC, ensuring the perfect balance between impact resistance and the ability to maintain an exceptional cutting edge over time. This hardness guarantees intensive use without deformation or loss of performance.

Secure Friction Locking System
The friction lock system relies on the calibrated tension of the spring that holds the blade open or closed. This traditional mechanism ensures smooth opening and closing with a simple press on the blade's edge, while keeping it perfectly stable in the open position.

The blade never closes accidentally during use, offering optimal safety without excessive mechanical complexity. This simplicity also guarantees exceptional reliability and minimal maintenance.

Handcrafted in THIERS
Each folding knife made in Thiers at the SCIP France workshops is the result of a precise nine-step handcrafted manufacturing process:

Stamping cuts and shapes the metal from sheets of steel. Straightening corrects any deformations, followed by bending, which gives the components their characteristic curvature. Slitting adjusts the thicknesses before hardening, a crucial heat treatment that modifies the steel's molecular structure to achieve its final

Target hardness of 56/57 HRC. The grind shapes the cutting edge profile through progressive grinding. The initial polishing refines the surfaces before hand assembly, where the blade, handle, spring, liners, and bolsters are precisely joined. The final polishing reveals the materials' ultimate luster and provides the finishing touch. Each piece is individually inspected to guarantee a perfect edge, smooth opening and closing mechanism, and the absence of any aesthetic or functional defects.

Free lifetime resharpening and exclusive guarantees
SCIP France accompanies each handcrafted folding knife with a commitment unique in French cutlery: free lifetime blade resharpening, upon request throughout its lifespan. This exceptional service demonstrates absolute confidence in the quality of manufacture and ensures consistent cutting performance for decades.

Each purchase includes a certificate of origin that authenticates the manufacturing in the THIERS workshops and guarantees complete product traceability. The knives come in an elegant gift box, ready to give for any occasion. The compressed carbon models are fully recyclable, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability. SCIP France's global reputation is built on a constant dedication to craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, perpetuating the prestige of THIERS, the historic cradle of French cutlery.

Carefully Selected Materials
High-Quality European Woods
The wood species are sourced from French and Spanish suppliers, guaranteeing traceability and European quality. The collection features handles made of Mediterranean olive wood, walnut, North African thuya, juniper (also known as cade), and cade burl. Juniper releases its sweet, peppery aroma, pleasantly permeating the handle and creating a unique sensory experience. Cade burl, with its naturally intricate grain, makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind. These woods are selected for their durability and their ability to age gracefully over years of use.

High-tech compressed carbon fiber
Compressed carbon fiber represents the perfect blend of modern technology and performance. Its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio allows for the creation of ultra-lightweight knives weighing as little as 80 grams without compromising structural integrity. Versions with gold or copper inlays create striking visual effects reminiscent of incandescent lava cracks in volcanic rock, evoking the still-glowing volcanic material. This composite material also has the advantage of being 100% recyclable, reflecting an environmentally conscious approach.

Stainless steel and brass bolsters
Brushed or polished stainless steel bolsters protect the handle ends from daily wear and tear while visually defining the knife. Brass versions add a touch of warmth and authenticity. Configurations vary from a single bolster for a clean profile to two bolsters for complete balance and enhanced handle protection. The liners, metal plates that reinforce the structure of the handle, ensure the solidity of the whole and contribute to the exceptional longevity of these THIERS folding knives manufactured according to the highest quality standards.
